Good replies there...
To suggest answer your questions:
1) Must I respond to the show cause letter? Will this affect my career?
You should respond. Failure to do so may will show that you have nothing to explain and admit guilt....apart from being considered as a failure to follow instruction. Just tell the truth.
I would recommend that you study the situation carefully...what really is the quality issues (or is there really any). To write your show cause letter, state the facts and NEVER put the blame on others and act innocent. Being a QC supervisor, you are responsible to check the production. You should also state corrective actions that you will or recommend to take. |

I do agree that you do not have control on what they produce at Production Dept, but I am sure you have control on WHAT and HOW they produce at Production Dept as a QC personnel.
Hence, if the quality issue is part of your responsibility directly or indirectly, then you should substantiate your Manager's allegation. If it does not comes under your responsibility or jurisdiction, then you should reply in explaining your stand in defending yourself.

Firstly, are you train or have you been trained for this particular position. Secondly, is the quality issue directly your responsibility? Sounding from your position, as a QC Supervisor I think it does. And lastly, seek clearification if non of the above help. QC does have a say in the quality of the product. You can either accept or reject them with a properly prepared report. And yes, you are in some way able to influence the production team. Analyse the situation and prepare to answer the letter. But I don't agree that you should be disciplined |

The show-cause letter is meant for you to explain your situation. Just tell the truth. |

I work as a QC Supervisor. I just received a show cause from my manager. She complains of quality issue which I also don't know the cause. I have no control of what they produce at the production department
I feel it is unfair to issue me a show cause letter to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken upon me. Why me and not others like the production team?
Must I respond to the show cause letter? Will this affect my career? Can someone advice me? |
